Bariatric surgery is done only when diet and exercise haven't worked, or when you have major health problems because of your weight. All forms of weight-loss surgery are major procedures that can have risks and side effects. You must also make long-term healthy changes to your diet and exercise to loose and keep weight off, even after your surgery.
